Burton Glen Charter Academy Reviews

The only reason why i rate Burton Glen Charter Academy a 4 is because of Mr.Rak! He is the best but i think he needs to lower the homework thanks alot!

I have two kids at Burton Glen and I feel it is a great school to meet and exceed your child expectations. The Teachers at Burton Glen care about your child's future and take the time to help them grow as wise individuals. I think the Principal and ast Principal also care about the kids as well as the parents and want 100% involvement with you and the school. I think to better are kids are to help them teach them and guide them through life and that is what Burton Glen is all about. Not giving up. No Child Left Behind! I would recommend Burton Glen to any Parent that wants a better future for their child.

BGA was our first foray into public schooling. I homeschooled before that, not wanting to send my son to Flint schools. From what they promised in orientation, we leave after the first year a disappointed. There's no enforcement of rules and general chaos reigns; handbook was a waste of paper. I volunteered quite a bit there and saw what went on. Of course, some teaches and staff (great communication there) are wonderful and there's some great kids, too, but this school has the same problem other public schools have. That would be letting the consistantly troublesome kids stay around and disrupt everyone else so the school can cash in on count day. Or maybe I'm just cynical. We're moving, but I doubt my kid would return to BGA for another year. Time to try something else. Sorry. On the bright side, it did beat Flint schools so it could have been

My daughter has been going to this school since it first opened and she was in the first grade. I absolutely love this school! The teachers are so awesome and sincerely care about the kids. I believe that the acedemics at Burton Glen are tougher than most other middle schools. I also believe that she will be ahead when she attends high school due to the awesome teaching that she has had. My daughter has been on the A honor roll every semester since starting middle school. My daughter is now in her last year at Burton Glen and she is very saddened to be leaving. I would love to see Burton Glen bring a high school in the future. They teach all these moral focus guidelines and then send the kids to schools where manners and morals do not count for much. I have and will continue to recommend this

The school is great! I believe it is a well balanced school all around. They encourage the parents to be involved in the class room at any time . You can e-mail the teachers and get a reply quickly. You know how your child is doing with grades, attendance,homework....right from your computer. I like that alot! Dr. Hammond is very friendly and is very involved in our childen's lives. So are the teachers! I reccomend this school. The only down side to the school is that they do not go any farther than 8th grade. I became interested in the school when I found out the classes that my son was going to have; internt access to the grades; met Dr. Hammond and heard of the goals he has for the school.

My children attend BGA, I find the teachers & staff to be top notch. They really seem to care about the kids, this is not just a job to them. Unfortunately there seems to be a high teacher turnover rate, possibly due to ureasonable leadership. I feel welcome in the school at all times and have had opportunities almost daily to be involved at the school. Most parents here seem to be fairly apathetic and don't choose to be involved, as if they expect the school to raise their children for them. There is a close circle of parents who seem to always be the ones voluteering to help. It puzzles us that more parents don't show up for meetings or activities. We are very happy with Burton Glen. I attribute poor test scores to the influx of children from closing Flint schools and apathetic parents.

While Burton Glen is still a much better alternative to Flint Community schools, the school has gone down hill over the last few years. There is an overall lack of discipline. The principle tries to be 'everyones friend' instead of the one in charge. For a school that 'teaches the MEAP', their scores should be better...passing would be nice. This school needs to get its act together, fast, before they are no different than the public schools.

Burton Glen is a good School. they have Excellent Teachers that try there best to help your student get the best Education possiable. Yes there is a few things the school needs to work out. What school don't, but Burton Glen is trying to solve the issues. And that in my eyes says a lot.My Kids love this School.

Compared to other public schools, BG is a better option. Most of the teachers are absolutely wonderful. If they would get a new principal, then the school would improve greatly. The current principal discourages parental involvement. Academically, the school is ahead of other local schools.

I am a student here in the middle school and we have three wings;k to 2,3 to 5 and 6 to 8. I am in 6 to 8 and currently in 7th grade. There is supposed to be a assitant principle in every wing, instead they're dealing with all of the troublemakers and not worrying about us. There is very low supervision. Not good at all. Everything else is great though. The teachers are very hands-on.

My child has been going to Burton Glen for 3 years now and Everything they promise in the handbook was all lies. smaller class sizes. there is 27 plus students per class. My daughter is overhelmed with that many students in a class. They do not follow through with anything. the Principal is completely blind to all the problems!

The wait time from 3:18pm, when all children are released from their class until you leave... is about a 45 minute wait due to how poorly the parking lot is. They need a bussing system, desperately. Having to wait that long is ridiculous before you can get home from picking your children up from school.

Our Son has been going to Burton Glen Since 3rd grade and its a good school. There are alot of true values that give the children a view of the real world and how to react. Good teachers, good staff and they do try to give the very best to the students. Not all schools are perfect, but this school tries hard to do its very best for both parents and students. Our son gets the very best teachers and staff. Thank you for all you have done for our son. Mrs. Melisa Nichols

This school has a horrible principal, she always touches up on the kids. The kids at the this school are out of control, the teachers have to stay at school even when their puking because they cant find a sub, thats how horrible the middle school is.

Burton glen academy has a habit of allowing bullies to break rules and polices that are to be followed, students do not have that safe environment that is promised by state law or followed as written in Burton Glen's handbook. And its hard to get rid of bullies and the staff regardless of the parent involvement show no improvement in the issues that are at hand. Broken promises, and children with emotional problems because of the harm that they must endure. This is a serious issue and must be addressed. It can not be allowed to continue.

A blessing! This is a wonderful school. The values paired with the great academics is so hard to find these days. We are so thankful.
